This is why technical communicators can’t have nice things

January 18, 2010

Actually, the memo below is why technical communicators aren’t allowed to claim neutrality when it comes to their output. Click on the “Read the rest of this entry” link to read it, because yes, the content is more than a little disturbing, and I really have no interest in ambushing anyone with this text.

Gee, Tara, think your issues could be showing a little more?

November 19, 2009

Just reread some of what I posted for 505 today, and I’m left with, “Angry? Me? Whatever makes you say such a thing?”

Doh!

So I’m thinking I might be skimming through the anger stage at the moment (with a brief detour through denial earlier today), which … yeah. Needs to happen. But I also need to pay attention, because seriously, I’m not interested in being the kind of asshole who loses her shit and expects everyone else to just suck it up.

No. Seriously.

My life has become such that my light reading now includes judicial opinions.

Book discussion?

September 30, 2009

One of my classmates would dearly love to have someone to talk with about “The Crucible.” I’ve checked out a copy from the library and will be reading it, because it was just that good. If you want to play along with us, I’ll probably put up a post in a week or so. Let me know if you are interested.

Dear Glenn Beck:

September 27, 2009

Admit it. You just got pwned by both Katie Couric and Adrianinflorida, all because you can’t bring yourself to admit that you screwed up. Also? Adrianinflorida isn’t the only one who wants to know what you mean by “white culture.” I’d like to know myself. Feel free to respond in comments.

Regards,

Tara

Done and doner

September 13, 2009

Pencil instructions have been written up (see prior post: “Frakkin’ Meow”), and I’ve fleshed out a bit more of my thoughts for my 428 homepage. It’s odd how this exercise is helping me remember some of the stuff I did for former!employer. Should be helpful when I go to revamp my resume yet again.

Meh. Enough. I’ve had a productive weekend, and I’m happy.

Horse, barn door, too late

August 26, 2009

I suspect this may be a case of closing the barn door after the horse has bolted, but I’ve made all my essay pages private. Why? Because an essay writing service found one of them and was kind enough to tell me how nice it was.

Um, yeah — no. I don’t think so. I’m a fan of capitalism as much as the next person, but selling original essays for students to hand in as their own? That’s more than a little skeevy, but not quite as skeevy as their assurances that their “professional writers have excellent work ethics.” Can anyone else spot the oxymoron in this assurance?

Grr. Argh.
